My husband has developed a passion for wine over the past few years which resulted in a need
for storage space. We have done a little research on where would be the best place to locate his wine
collection. We happen to have a twelve foot wall just perfect for a wall mounted wine rack.
The perfect location is one that does not require any conventional humidity or temperature
control. Heat, light, and vibration are harmful to the long-term storage of wine. Of course a personal wine cellar is really the perfect spot for your wine
storage. It is both cool and dark. If you don’t have a cellar or basement then you have to be
creative. The coolest place in our home for a wall mounted wine rack, that was away from windows and
excessive noise is our hallway leading to the garage. I have always complained that the hallway seemed a
too dark. But the lighting is perfect for wine storage and it is also the coolest space in our home. This
location is also convenient as it is just around the corner from our dining room and kitchen. The hallway
happened to be about five feet wide which allows plenty of passage space.
Wall Mounted Wine Racks Come in all Shapes and Sizes
There are many shapes and sizes to choose from when looking for a wall mounted wine rack. The
ones we chose are about 48” high and 12’ long. It is a about a foot taller than a kitchen
counter. This is great for displaying a few wines on top and we utilize it also as a serving area. We chose
cubes that had shelving in the shape of an “X”. Each cube is a two foot square and holds about four dozen
bottles of wine laid on top of each other. We have enough storage for about 500 bottles of wine. So
far we are storing about 100 bottles of wine in our wall mounted wine rack.
We have been very pleased with the results of our latest home improvement project. The
wall mounted wine rack is fastened to a very solid wall to minimize movement. The stain we chose was a dark
cherry. It is a great improvement to an otherwise dull
spot and makes a beautiful display and storage area.
We did quite a bit of research before beginning our project. This is always important whether you plan to
build it yourself or hire a professional. We checked online and at the local do-it-yourself hardware stores in our
area. We also visited a our favorite vineyard wine shop for a few tips on the
best wall mounted wine rack for the size of our particular collection. Our latest kick is to find wine blends that
are under $30. We have even found some really quite tasty wines under $15.
